The End… and another beginning?

We gave it our best shot gang, but ultimately, We Make Clouds fell a little short.

So, all that’s left to say is THANK YOU! It was the amazing, constant support that really kept us going.

Will Clouds rise again? We’re thinking so, but are not quite ready to unveil any plans just yet. But keep your eyes to the sky, and we’ll let you know when things start getting CLOUDY again.

In the meantime, check out this short review from Zuda community member Illinest’s blog. We’ll be back!

Well, this is it everybody. The competition ends Friday, and your favorite office comic is mired in second place.

If you’re reading this, thanks for the support. But also, GET OUT THERE AND VOTE, FAVORITE and COMMENT LIKE THERE’S NO TOMORROW!!!!

Because, even though there will be probably be a tomorrow, there soon may come a time without We Make Clouds on Zuda.

And that would be a cryin’ shame.

Pencils to Pixels: Screen 2

The second screen was reworked a lot mostly to get the humor and dialogue right. Early on, the first penciled, inked, and greyed artwork for screen 2 had Drew interacting with Camilla instead of Priya. The last panel was also re-drawn several times to match alternate endings, all of which were designed to define Ted’s character and his dynamic with Drew.

It’s also funny (to me) to compare the pencils to the final product and see the cut n’ paste Vantacor on the wall, as well as the pasted Priya. The screen 2 layout (below) has several differences compared to the screen 2 shown on Zuda. Namely, Drew still has his plant. . .

For those of you who don’t know the Preston & Steve morning show on WMMR in Philadelphia, it’s time to check ‘em out.

I (Mike) used to live in Philly, and this one radio show almost induced several accidents during my long daily commute out of town. Preston, Steve and the gang (Casey Boy, Kathy, Nick and Marisa), provide a perfect cocktail of humor and humanity that you can’t find anywhere else on the airwaves.

“Fine,” you say, “but what does this have to do with We Make Clouds?”

Well, here’s the scoop. We Make Clouds and Preston & Steve are trying to harness the energy of each other’s rabid fans. And while P&S probably has a hundred times our power and influence, we’re hoping to get a relationship going – a League of Laughs, if you will – that will propel us both to the top of the charts.

So, go ahead, check out the Preston & Steve site and download some of their excellent podcasts. And then make sure you come back here and vote (and favorite and comment) your ass off for We Make Clouds!

If that don’t cure what ails you, well then… you may be a robot.

Getting Ronnie Right

Ronnie was the most difficult character to nail. There are so many stereotypical ways to portray the office geek and it’s extremely tempting to go down the Comic Book Guy/Milton route.

But we wanted something a little more normal. Here’s how J got to the real Ronnie…

Bearded and balding. A good look but not quite Ronnie.

The mustache wasn't working, but the upper middle one got the go-ahead.
